PR Staff
Location: One person for each of the campuses: Ayr, Hamilton and Paisley
Time Commitment: 2-4 hours a week during the semester (more or less depending on the number of events we have running)
Overview: As the PR staff, you will be promoting the Transition UWS projects, recruiting participants and volunteers for various roles, such as conducting home visits, advice clinics and environmental audits. You will also be promoting the various events Transition UWS runs.
Home Energy Advice Clinics Co-ordinator
Location: One person for each of the campuses: Ayr, Hamilton and Paisley
Time Commitment: 1 day initial training and introduction followed by 2 days per month (one for preparation and one for running the Clinic)
Overview: The role of the Home Energy Advice Clinics Co-ordinator is to arrange Home Energy Advice Clinics (Information stalls) around campus and to work with and support volunteers to give energy advice to students and staff.
Press Officer
Location: One person for each of the campuses: Ayr, Hamilton and Paisley
Time Commitment: 2-4 hours a week during the semester (more or less depending on the number of events we have running)
Overview: To handle all of the media releases associated with Transition UWS. This will involve working with the University’s corporate marketing team as well as various local media outlets to produce and release information on our campaigns and events.
Research Assistant
Location: One person for each of the campuses: Ayr, Hamilton and Paisley
Time Commitment: Differs each project. Can be flexible.
Overview: To assist with research for the team’s various campaigns. This will involve researching various topics which come under the environmental umbrella. Some projects may last longer the others. Possible examples include carrying out thermal comfort surveys with residents in halls to determine whether the heating settings are optimal and researching the recycling facilities available on campus and whether these match student and staffs needs and wishes.
Swap Shop Organiser
Location: One person for each of the campuses: Ayr, Hamilton and Paisley
Time Commitment: Flexible. Around 5-10 hours in preparation for bigger events. Occasional meetings.
Overview: As Swap shop event’s organiser, you will be assisting the Transition UWS team in the preparation, publicising and running of regular swap shops to promote reuse and recycling, ultimately reducing waste.
Social Enterprise Advisor
Location: One person able to travel to Paisley campus
Time Commitment: 2-4hrs per week
Overview: This year Transition UWS has Scottish Government funding to deliver environmental projects across three of the UWS campuses. However, once the funding ends Transition UWS is planning to move forwards as a social enterprise offering consultancy services on writing funding bids and running environmental projects. Therefore we are looking for a volunteer to help us produce a business plan for our new social enterprise.
Events Organiser
Location: One person for each of the campuses: Ayr, Hamilton and Paisley
Time Commitment: Flexible. Around 5-10 hours in preparation for bigger events. Occasional meetings.
Overview: As Events Organiser, you will be assisting the Transition UWS team in developing ideas and organising and running various events to support our various environmental projects.
Environmental Officer
Location: Several positions on each of the campuses: Ayr, Hamilton and Paisley
Time Commitment: 2-5hrs per week
Overview: Develop a management plan for either: waste, energy, transport or procurement for the students association. We are looking for students with some experience of auditing, either academic or practical, who are looking to gain further work experience.
Green Impact Auditor
Location: Several positions on each of the campuses: Ayr, Hamilton and Paisley
Time Commitment: 2-3 hours a week in February
Overview: UWS will be running an exciting new behaviour change program where departments compete against each other to see who can be the most environmental. We are looking for students to act as auditors. No experience necessary as you will receive training.
